Podgorica, Montenegro (12 July 2016) — Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro Azra Jasavić hosted earlier today Ambassador of Turkey Serhat Galip upon his own initiative.
DPM Jasavić thanked the Turkish Government for the assistance and support project implemented by the Turkish International Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA). She in particular commended the establishment and deepening of relations between the two countries. In addition to strong political relations, Deputy Prime Minister called for the strengthening and deepening of economic relations, especially in terms of attracting the Turkish investments+. She informed Ambassador Galip about the objectives and priorities of the Government of Electoral Trust and the role of Pozitivna Crna Gora in the functioning of the Government.
“Our two countries are in the process of European integration and have huge experience to be exchanged on a daily basis. In addition to sharing know-how in that field, Turkey can help Montenegro strengthen its economy by attracting investors from Turkey. We are willing to act in that direction and, therefore, I requested a meeting with all the Turkish investors in Montenegro. Our wish is to be informed about their experiences, problems, needs and plans, contribute to the elimination of the problems and help create an environment for attracting new investors. If the investors currently operating In Montenegro send a positive message to Turkey, that is a good sign for other investors to come. My top priority is to create legal certainty for Investors,” Deputy Prime Minister Jasavić underlined.
The Turkish Ambassador congratulated Deputy Prime Ministers on her appointment and voiced willingness to support her suggestions and ideas when it comes to economic relations. He said that high-quality economic relations between the two states should be a role model for boosting economic ties.
There are certain difficulties investors from Turkey are facing in Montenegro and the Embassy is willing to organise a working meeting with investors as soon as possible, said Ambassador Galip.
DPM Jasavić also asked for a meeting with TIKA’s management to put forward concrete proposals for further cooperation, especially relating to projects for people with disabilities and vulnerable groups. The Turkish Ambassador welcomed the idea and suggested that concrete projects should be proposed.
The two officials expressed satisfaction with the possibilities for upgrading cooperation, which should lead to further rapprochement and understanding between the two countries.
