MFAEI press release on the document entitled “On the Application of Certain Special Economic Measures to Ensure the Security of Russia”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration has instructed the Embassy in Russia to inform in more detail about the special economic measures defined by the proclamation of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin in the document entitled “On the Application of Certain Special Economic Measures to Ensure the Security of Russia.”

The special economic measures, which will be in force for one year since the day of signing, are related prohibit or restricts the import of certain kinds of agricultural products, raw materials, and food originating in a country that has imposed economic sanctions against Russian companies and or individuals or has joined such sanctions.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration voices regret over the decision of the Russian Federation, at the same time reiterating that aligning with the EU decisions is in line with the pursuance of foreign policy priorities as well as the respect for principles and values which Montenegro upholds in international relations, and has not at any moment been anti-Russian in nature.

We believe that Montenegro’s opinion and position is understood by the Russian government and citizens and that the decision of the Russian authorities will in no way affect the good and friendly relations between Russia and Montenegro, nor that it will provide any notable impediment to the continuation and development of bilateral relations and cooperation.
