    PR ServiceMinister of Interior Mevludin Nuhodžić noted that the Cabinet assessed that all competent authorities responded professionally, responsibly and successfully to wildfires that happened in the Central and Coastal region in the past few days.

    “The Cabinet adopted today information on wildfires in the territory of Montenegro in the period from 1 to 18 July 2017 and assessed that all competent authorities professionally, responsibly and successfully responded to wildfires that happened in the Central and Coastal region in the past few days. The Cabinet expressed special gratitude to the NATO Emergency Response Centre for quick response, Civil Protection Mechanism of the European Union, countries participating in the firefighting activities – Ukraine, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Israel, as well as countries that have expressed readiness to help in this situation,” Minister Nuhodžić said following the Cabinet session.

    The Minister informed the public that the Government allocated 230,000 from the current budget reserve to reward protection and rescue officers. The firefighters who directly participated in the firefighting will be rewarded with EUR 400 each and those who had increased volume of work and did not participated in the firefighting with EUR 200 each.

    “The Cabinet instructed the Ministry of Internal Affairs to examine the existing concept of the protection and rescue system and, through additional analysis, to propose to the Cabinet a model for its improvement and, as soon as possible, the Ministry of the Interior shall prepare an additional programme for the procurement of the necessary means and equipment for preventive action, terrain observation and better functioning of the protection and rescue system,” Minister Nuhodžić concluded.
