Minister without Portfolio and Chair of the Commission for Estimating Damage from Natural Disasters Marija Vučinović visited four municipalities in the north of Montenegro, namely Plav, Gusinje, Andrijevica and Berane, which suffered the most damage in the earthquake that hit Montenegro on 4 January.

In a press statement following the visits to these municipalities, Minister Vučinović pointed out that many requests had been submitted for damage assessment, reiterating that the Government of Montenegro allocated EUR 190.000 to repair the most urgent consequences of the earthquake.

“These funds are intended for the most vulnerable households. In the meantime, the Commission for Estimating Damage from Natural Disasters will review the requests from these municipalities and see if it is realistic to process all 3,500 requests that have arrived to date and whether they will all be paid damage,” Minister Vučinović said.

She added that given the fact that it is not realistic that the damage has been done to so many households, it is unrealistic for everyone to expect the assistance of the State, adding that after today’s meeting, further action on this issue will be defined.
