Montenegro protects its interests in marine area in line with international regulations

Podgorica, Montenegro (4 November 2014) – By recently adopting the Decision amending the Decision on defining blocks for exploration and production of hydrocarbons, Montenegro has harmonised its policy in this area with the international document entitled Protocol on Interim Regime along the Southern Border from 2002, at the same time protecting its legitimate interests in the marine area during the Protocol’s implementation.

Montenegrin government voices its willingness to continue the dialogue in the spirit of good neighbourly relations in order to find mutually acceptable solutions with regard to the Adriatic’s resources, without prejudging the final land or sea state borders.

The government is also ready to establish a dialogue about engaging an appropriate international instance with a view to initiating the process of permanent demarcation.
