Podgorica, Montenegro (2 October 2014) — Prime Minister Milo Đukanović congratulated Germany’s Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel on the Day of German Unity.
“I wish to particularly emphasise the high level of relations between our states and nations, and my belief that the period ahead of us will be filled by further development and strenghtening of mutual coopeation in all fields and in the mutual interest,” PM Đukanović noted.
Reiterating the fact that the Day of German Unity has historical significance and inspiration which marked a new perspective for the united Germany and new Europe, Prime Minister Đukanović thanked Germany for its continued support for Montenegro’s democratic and economic development, in particular for its strategic objectives – membership to the NATO and EU.
“The committment of the German Government to our region has been proven by the Conference on the Western Balkans which was recently held in Berlin under your auspices and which will galvanise a more dynamical movement of the Western Balkans towards our European goal and thus contribute to furhter fostering of the European unity and European values,“ Montenegro’s Prime Minister concluded in his congratulation letter.
