Podgorica, Montenegro (27 January 2015) – Prime Minister Milo Đukanović hosted yesterday Montenegro’s men’s national water polo team representatives and congratulated them on having won the silver medal in the 2016 European Championship held in Belgrade and their qualification for the Olympics, highlighting that the extraordinary result deserves respect.
“Anyone who observes things in a rational manner should be extremely proud of how the water polo team represented our country,“ PM Đukanović stressed, adding that their success deserves to be fully respected, not only by the Government of Montenegro, but also by the Montenegrin public.
The meeting concluded that an extraordinary result of the national water polo team should be an encouragement for improving water polo, namely in the municipalities of Herceg Novi and Kotor, as well as in the areas that traditionally cherish affection for this sport.
Creating technical conditions for attracting young people to the sport, and making it more popular in the municipalities such as Bar, Podgorica and Nikšić, should be one of the top priorities in the coming period, the meeting pointed out.
The meeting was attended by coach of the Montenegro national team Vladimir Gojković, captain of the national team Nikola Janović, chairman of the Water Polo and Swimming Federation of Montenegro Srđan Kovačević, president of the Expert Council for Water Polo Petar Porobić, director of Directorate for Youth and Sport of Montenegro Igor Vušurović and Minister of Education Predrag Bošković.
