Podgorica, Montenegro (9 May 2017) — Montenegro’s Prime Minister Duško Marković congratulated President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker on Europe Day.
“On the occasion of 9 May – Europe Day, on behalf of the Government of Montenegro and myself, I send you my sincere congratulations and best wishes for further progress in the field of preserving the fundamental values of democracy, peace and freedom that linked members of the European Union over the past 67 years.
Trying to be an integral part of the European tapestry and new achievements of the European Union, Montenegro has recently made significant advances on its integration path. With 26 open chapters, two of which have been provisionally closed, continued work on meeting the obligations under the European agenda and responsible approach to the enlargement policy, we have further determined the position of Montenegro as a promoter of the European system of values in the Western Balkans, and beyond.
Expecting that the direct dialogue will further strengthen our future cooperation and open a new chapter in our relations, please accept the assurances of my high respect and sincere greetings,” Prime Minister Marković stated in his greeting to the European Commission’s President.
