    Davos, Switzerland (25 January 2018) – At the sidelines of the 18th World Economic Forum taking place in Davos, Prime Minister Duško Marković met with Dutch businessman and billionaire Kommer Damen, President of Damen Shipyards Group, which, in the consortium with the Porto Montenegro, is in the final stage of negotiations with the Government of Montenegro on taking over the Adriatic Shipyard Bijela.

    Harmonisation of the concession contract is in its final stage, thus enabling the making the best use of a part of the shipyard by transforming it into a luxury yachts service. At the beginning of the work of the Damen Group’s first service in the Mediterranean, new jobs will be created, thus significantly boosting the nautical offer of Montenegro, the meeting concluded.

    Prime Minister Marković noted that the presence of the Damen Group, as a renowned investor, helps Montenegro’s efforts to brand itself as an elite tourist destination.

    The Damen Group operates 33 shipbuilding and repair yards, of which 15 are located in the home country – the Netherlands. It employs more than 1,500 workers.
