Podgorica, Montenegro (18 January 2018) – At today’s session, the Montenegrin Cabinet passed the Decision on the Detailed Spatial Plan of the Transmission Line Corridor 2×400 kV Pljevlja 2 – Bajina Bašta for the section on the territory of Montenegro. The detailed spatial plan will determine the long-term basics of organising, using, arranging and protecting the infrastructure corridor, including other infrastructure systems. Furthermore, the plan will determine the optimal conditions and rules for the construction, use and maintenance of infrastructure systems in the infrastructure corridor, as well as the linking of the existing network of infrastructure systems into a unified system. The construction of the transmission line will enable the exchange of electricity with neighbouring systems, improve the supply of certain areas and major towns in Montenegro, as well as the connection of new electricity sources and the reduction of losses. The plan’s goal is also to present, based on the analyses and variant solutions, the best model of valorisation and space protection.

The Cabinet approved the Information on Amending the Agreement between the Government of Montenegro and the Government of Belarus on mutual travel of citizens. The amendments’ goal is to simplify certain procedures, thus making the citizens’ travel easier.

As to cooperation with partner countries, the Government passed the Information on the signing of the Agreement on military and technical cooperation between the Ministry of Defence of Montenegro and the Ministry of Defence of Slovenia on the transfer of warehouse management software -SKEV and approved the Agreement. The agreement defines the transfer of the programme package of the Slovenian Ministry of Defence for the storage of warehouse records of movable items without compensation, because the information system the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Montenegro use is outdated and there is no possibility of upgrading it. The introduction of this solution and its subsequent implementation will significantly improve the keeping of records of material value, which is of paramount importance, bearing in mind that, inter alia, it is about weapons and military equipment.

The Government established a platform for the participation of Prime Minister of Montenegro Duško Marković in the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on 23 – 26 January 2018.

Prime Minister Duško Marković will participate, at the invitation of the founder and executive director of the World Economic Forum Klaus Schwab, in the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum, which is the first time for the Prime Minister of Montenegro to take part in that capacity in the event bringing together the most prominent figures from the business world, academic community and civil society on a global scale.

Prime Minister Marković, together with the leaders of the Western Balkan countries, will take part in the meeting on accelerating the long-term development of the region. The meeting will also be attended by Norway’s Foreign Minister and WEF Steering Committee member Borge Brende, EU Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, and UN Under-Secretary for Political Affairs Jeffrey Feltman.
