Podgorica, Montenegro (3 June 2015) — Relations between Montenegro and Croatia are based on friendship, good-neighbourly relations and common European perspective, Prime Minister of Montenegro Milo Đukanović and Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Josip Leko agreed at today’s meeting in Podgorica.
The Prime Minister emphasised importance of regional cooperation in overcoming economic backwardness as part of the historical heritage and the opportunity to achieve good rhythm in achieving strategic goals. He added that the integration process is extremely important for a society, adoption of common values an its economic growth and development.
“Montenegro has already made a big step forward in achieving of its foreign political objectives,” Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Josip Leko said, pointing out that Croatia is a dedicated friend and partner of Montenegro in joining EU and NATO. He particularly underlined the Croatia’s commitment to exchange experience with Montenegro in order to realise its accession aspirations as quickly as possible.
It was agreed that the two countries have excellent cooperation in many areas such as justice, home affairs, science and education.
Montenegro and Croatia will continue spurring economic cooperation in mutual interest, the meeting concluded.
