If the referendum for NATO membership were to be held now, the majority of citizens, 52 percent of them, would support Montenegro’s membership in this security and political organization, according to recently conducted research by Ipsos Strategic Marketing.
According to the survey, 46 percent of the population would vote against NATO membership and the turnout would reach 70 percent. 65 percent of those surveyed are persuaded that NATO option would win.
Compared to the June survey by the same agency, number of citizens who would vote for joining NATO has increased for five percent.
Compared to February 2015, support for NATO membership has increased by more than 10 percent.
When it comes to the second segment of the research, the majority of citizens believes that Montenegro will become a NATO member, as much as 58 percent of citizens believe that Montenegro will become a member of NATO, as opposed to 31 percent who do not believe.
The survey was conducted by Ipsos Marketing Strategic from 11 to 18 September on a sample of 1,100 citizens.
