Comprehensive reforms have contributed to receiving NATO invitation, the newly appointed German ambassador in Podgorica, Hans Günther Mattern, adding that he expects Montenegro’s NATO accession protocol to be ratified in the Bundestag in the near future.
Defence minister Milica Pejanovic-Djurisic has met Mattern today. She pointed to the importance of Germany as Montenegro’s credible partner, which was confirmed by comprehensive and quality cooperation between the two countries in defence area.
In this sense, the ministry stated, Pejanovic-Djurisic called into mind the projects of the two ministries being implemented at the bilateral level, the joint participation of the armed forces in international missions and the continued support of Germany for Montenegrin defence sector modernisation.
“Mattern congratulated the Ministry of Defence on comprehensive reforms which have contributed to receiving NATO invitation, expressing Germany’s full support in the final stage of Euro-Atlantic integration of Montenegro”, the ministry said in the statement.
As it stated, Mattern “expressed the hope that Montenegro’s NATO accession protocol would be ratified in the Bundestag in the near future”.
