Assistant Chief of the General Staff of Slovenia, Brigadier General Bojan Pograjc said that NATO membership is all the more important in a multipolar world, especially in Europe and the region, because the security situation is not stable as during the Cold War.
“It depends on many factors and can quickly be changed. Membership in NATO provides not only military and economic, but also security in many other areas. Therefore, I wish good luck to Montenegro on its way to NATO”, said Brigadier General Pograjc in interview for the Pobjeda.
He said that the Army of Montenegro was in line with NATO standards and that the fact it was small was an advantage, because it can quickly be transformed.
“But it should be noted that army is not the only one to enter NATO, but the whole society (country) as a political entity with its army,” said Pograjc, who also served as deputy commander of KFOR in Kosovo.
He believes that in anticipation of invitation for NATO, Montenegro needs help both within the state and beyond.
“It was not in my duty to follow the compliance of your army with NATO standards. But from what I can read from the newspapers or see on television, I can say that it is in line. There is an advantage of quick transformation, because it is small. But however, it should be noted, that the army is not the only one to enter NATO, but the whole society (country) as a political entity with its army, “he said.
