Bulgarian diplomacy chief: People of Montenegro voted for parties that support membership in NATO

After Bulgarian parliament ratified the Protocol for accession of Montenegro to Northatlantic alliance, their chief of diplomacy Daniel Mitrov said that our country should be a member of NATO.

“Bulgaria has always supported the expansion of the Alliance because this contributes to the stability of the Western Balkans”, he said, and it was reported by news agency Fokus.

Mitrov added that people of Montenegro voted for political parties who expressed readiness to join their country to the Alliance. He also said that there is a portion of the society which is against he accession, but that majority voted for parties which have membership inlcuded in their political program.

“National interest of Bulgaria is to have as many as neighbors as possible who are members of NATO in order to provide a secure environment together”, he emphasized.

Before Bulgaria, protocol was ratified by iceland, Slovenia, Hungary, Slovakia and Albania.

White House initated the process of ratification and has sent a note to the Senate of the USA.
