Implementation of the project of undersea cable will contribute not only to greater openness of our electric power system, but also the economy as a whole, as well as the creation of new jobs, Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic said.
On the ceremony of laying the first section of the undersea cable from Montenegro, Djukanovic said that the project is confirmation that the optimal use of available resources is the most important condition of dynamic economic development, which will be made easier with integration into the European single market in all sectors, including energy.
“With the works started today we are entering a new stage of strategic project “Submarine cable” implemented by the Italian state company Terna and Montenegrin Transmission System (CGES). 136 kilometers of cable has already been laid on the Italian coast. Total length between Pescara in Italy and CapeJaz is 455 km. Not far from here, CGES is building Lastva substation and transmission line Lastva-Cevo-Pljevlja. The total value of “Submarine cable” is over 800 million euros. End of works was planned for the end of 2018,” said Djukanovic.
