Head of the Delegation of the European Union (EU) in Podgorica, Mitja Drobnic said that yesterday’s signing of an agreement between the government and part of the opposition is a positive step towards creating a favorable environment for holding of credible parliamentary elections in October.
“The European Union (EU) welcomes the fact that this result was achieved through political dialogue and that it was open to everyone. In order to ensure credible elections, full implementation of electoral legislation remains crucial,” Drobnic said for.
He believes that by signing of an agreement many conditions for free and fair elections were created. “However, there are still other problems to be addressed. We assess that Montenegro is well on the way towards that goal, free and fair elections without accusations of manipulation,” Drobnic said for Radio Montenegro.
