Constituting the Council for cooperation with the immigrants is not only a legal obligation, but also a gesture of respect for the ancestors, Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic said.
The inaugural session of the Council, where 80 members of that body were verified, was held today in Podgorica.
Đukanović reminded that the Government appointed Council for Cooperation with immigrants on July 28, with members which are representatives of the diaspora, government and other institutions.
He said that the Council is of one of the institutes defined by the Law on Cooperation with the emigrants, which was adopted last year.
“The constitutive session rounded up institutional infrastructure that includes this important dimension of the state policy,” Djukanovic said.
This, he said, further confirms the responsible attitude of the Government towards the Diaspora, which is an important partner in the process of strengthening bilateral relations with countries with Montenegrin emigrant community.
