Courts must not be under pressure from the media

Courts must not be under the pressure of media, it has been estimated today’s training. It was said that judges and journalists in their struggle for justice share the same side and should not be rivals.

Training “Improving access to and transparency of the judiciary – the relationship between the judiciary and the media” is a part of the project “Improvement of cooperation between the judiciary and the media in Montenegro”, which is financially supported by the Dutch Embassy in Belgrade.

President of the Supreme Court, Vesna Medenica,said that meaningful and timely information is the oxygen of any democracy. “Courts and judges should not be pressured by anyone, and least by media. They need to form their own free judgment on a criminal matter or civil legal matter and make free judgment on issue, without influence, ” Medenica said.
