Cutting wages, but not pensions

Deputy PM Milutin Simovic announced that new fiscal measures would not foresee reduction in pensions, while the wages of public officials would be further reduced by 6%.

At the press conference, after the session of the Government held yesterday, he said that the fiscal strategy for the period from 2017 to 2020 was the expression of the Government of Montenegro’s determination to face the challenges of achieving a vision of development, financial stability and fast economic growth.

Simovic said that the aim of the Strategy was to achieve development goals in favor of the progress of all Montenegrin citizens.

“These goals can be achieved by a combination of economic policy measures, which relate to consolidation of public finances, solving structural problems in the economy, improving competitiveness, increasing economic growth,” Simovic said.
