Disagreements in Pristina regarding Border Demarcation Agreement with Montenegro are internal issue of Kosovo, announced the Government of Montenegro.
“We believe that the Agreement entrenched administrative borders in accordance with the SFRJ Constitution of 1974. If it is suspected that it was not done so, and that it was a mistake, we are ready to consider it, because we do not want any misunderstandings with neighbors, taking into account the state and national interests of Montenegro, ” says in the statement of the Government of Montenegro.
As they say, it is exactly the summary of the message that Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic conveyed to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa and other Kosovo officials. Future border between Montenegro and Kosovo will be drawn by the experts from the EU and the US, which Pristina called asking for help after the opposition strongly protested against the way the border demarcation was agreed. Prime Minister Isa Mustafa said for Pristina RTV 21 television that experts from the United States, the European Union and, possibly, the United Kingdom will have access to all documents available to Pristina, including recent opposition’s objections.
“Foreign experts will see if mistakes were made, and there is willingness from both our and the Montenegrin side to correct the error,” said Mustafa.
Along with the agreement on formation of Community of Serb municipalities, border demarcation with Kosovo, at least declaratively, was the main cause of a series of violent protests in Pristina and equally brutal blockade of parliament.
The suspension of these agreements is the condition that the opposition imposed to Mustafa and Hashim Thaci to return to parliament.
Border Demarcation Agreement signed in mid-August in Vienna.
