From the very beginning, Albania has provided support to Montenegro, as well as to other neighbouring countries, which is important for our country’s progress towards full membership in the alliance, said Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic during his meeting with the Parliament Speaker of the Republic of Albania, Ilir Meta.

Meta congratulated PM Djukanovic on the signing of the NATO Accession Protocol and pointed out that Albania would be among the first member states to ratify the protocol.

Djukanovic thanked for the congratulations, and for the help and support that Albania provides to Montenegro, pointing out that neighbours’ position had particular importance for the progress of a country’s integration.

“Among other things, he pointed out that Montenegro was also ready to share its experience in negotiating with the EU with friends such as Albania”, the government stated.

Djukanovic and Meta expressed satisfaction with development of bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries and exchanged views on current developments in the Western Balkans.
