Doctors from Serbia and Italy to Strengthen KCCG



Clinical Centre of Montenegro (KCCG) will hire five doctors in the field of Cardiac surgery, four from Serbia and one from Italy, learns Pobjeda. Part of the team from Serbia is in Podgorica already today for the final agreement, but also to do two surgeries with our doctors.

Director of Cardiac surgery in the Clinical Center of Serbia, heart surgeon doc. Dr. Svetozar Putnik and anesthesiologist Dr. Dejan Markovic will occasionally be hired from the Clinical Center of Serbia, heart surgeon doc. Dr. Ivan Stojanovic will occasionaly visit from the Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases “Dedinje”, while heart surgeon Dr. Alessandro Giamberti will be coming from the Italian IRCCS Policlinico San Donar.

Expert assistance will also be provided by a children’s cardiologist from the University Children’s Hospital in Belgrade Dr. Ida Jovanovic.

“Teams from Serbia will support our experts at the Center for Cardiac Surgery in improving the treatment of patients with terminal, final heart failure, for heart transplants, as well as the installation of heart pumps. They will participate in cardiac surgeries with our doctors in order to reduce waiting lists, and also assist in case of lack of personnel,” said the director of the Clinical center Zorica Kovacevic.

When asked what is happening with the case of the former director of the Center for Cardiac Surgery Dr. Aleksandar Nikolic, and if it is decided whether he stays or goes from the ClinicalCenter, Kovacevic said that he is still on vacation.

“Until the appointment of a new chief, this unit will be headed by Dr Nebojsa Bulatovic, the Director of the Clinic for heart disease whose part is also the Center for Cardiac Surgery,” said Kovacevic.

Neither the head of the Clinic nor Dr. Nikolic earlier wanted to speculate over alleged resignation or dismissal of Dr. Nikolic.
