After the Royal Group of the United Arab Emirates announced that it would abandon the project Queen’s beach, the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism has said that it would continue to talk with the client to try to convince them that Montenegro is the right destination for investment.
Queen’s beach has been point of contention of DPS and SDP for a long time. Vice President of the Municipality of Budva Ljubomir Filipovic from SDP is surprised by the decision of investors.
“If our demands for respect for the law were the sole reason for the abandonment of this project, and only they could be, it raises doubts about the intentions of the investors. Such a reaction of investors says a lot about the seriousness of they intentions., “Filipovic said for Radio Antena M.
The tourism workers are disappointed with the announcement of the Royal Group.
“I think those who made the Royal group to left should be ashamed. I think they knew what they were doing. But probably they did it because they have certainly some other investors. This would be heard in the entire business world within 24 hours, “said the president of the Montenegrin tourist association Zarko Radulovic.
Deputy Mayor Ljubomir Filipovic (SDP) last year withdrew the signature of the agreement on the sale of the Queen’s beach, after which the decision was reversed by Mayor Lazar Radjenovic (DPS).
The withdrawal of signatures, Filipovic justified by claiming that the proven fact is that the contract gives the investor rights that are not in accordance with the law. The offered price was 50 euros per square meter and in opposition and SDP it was assessed as insufficient.
