Total financial support from the European Union to Montenegro from 2014 to 2020 will amount to an indicative 324 million, EU announced.
“As a support to reforms in Montenegro, the European Union will allocate resources in the indicative amount of 270.5 million euros for the period from 2014 to 2020 through IPA 2 framework for providing pre-accession assistance. It is envisaged that 52 million euros will be invested in the projects in the field of Agriculture and Rural Development. The same amount was also envisaged for the rule of law and protection of fundamental human rights,” it was said in the EU statement.
As they pointed out, 47 million was allocated for projects in the areas of democracy and governance, 40 million for cross-border cooperation, while 38 million was allocated for the environmental and climate action.
“Projects in the field of transport could be funded with 32 million euros in the mentioned period. The European Union will invest 21 million euros in the projects in the field of competitiveness and innovation, and 7 million more for the projects in the fields of education, employment and social policies”, it was announced.
As emphasized, 14 million was allocated for the instrument for civil society. As a reminder, from 2007 to 2013, the European Union has allocated 235 million euros to Montenegro through the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance. From 1996 to 2006, through the CARDS program, EU support to Montenegro amounted to 277 million euros.
