That citizens of Montenegro are drowning in debts show the new data from Central bank of Montenegro CBCG by which the citizens owe the banks almost one billion euros. The debt is bigger compared to last year, and it is a disturbing fact that every citizen on average owes three average salaries to the bank, or 1.552 euros, it was reported by Dnevne newspaper.
Namely, ten years ago Montenegrin citizens owed the banks on average 373 euros and until today the debt has been constantly growing.
Total debt of Montenegrin citizens at the end of June of this year was 965.7 million euros, which is 49 million or 5.3 percent higher compared to previous year, it was officially said to Dnevne newspaper in Central bank of Montenegro.
“At the end of June of 2016, the debt per capita towards banks was 1.552 euros and it was increased by 5.3 percent compared to the same period of last year”, it was said from Central bank.
Total loans of the companies at the end of June were 976.3 million euros. Compared to the same period of last year, the debt of the companies has increased by 18.3 million euros, or 1.9 percent.
The siutation in the region is not much better. Citizens of Serbia owe the banks almost six billion euros, while the Croats owe 5.2 billion euros. In Bosnia and Herzgovina the situation is a bit different. Citizens of this country owe the banks 3.5 billion euros, or two and a half salaries on average.
