The Montenegrin authorities must ensure free and democratic elections and the European Parliament (EP) will continue to closely monitor this process, announced Vice President of the EP, Ulrike Lunacek.
Austrian MP from the Green Party, which is one of the most active in the EP when it comes to the integration of the Western Balkan countries into the European Union (EU), believes that the opening of the Government to reforms and inclusion of opposition parties prevented political crisis in Montenegro.
She said that she sees positive changes in the functioning of the Government of electoral confidence before the October elections.
“The government not only includes opposition parties, but it also shows the progress in the preparations for the elections through the initiative of the new Minister of the Interior Goran Danilovic, from the opposition, to impose order on the electoral list,” said Lunacek for Pobjeda.
