President of Parliament of Montenegro Darko Pajovic met with Sotirios Athanasiou today, Greek ambassador in Montenegro, who said that Greek parliament will soon ratify the Protocol for accession of Montenegro to NATO and that it will have the support of all political parties in their parliament.

“Greece will be among the first members to do it and by that send a clear message about the necessity of finishing this process as soon as possible”, he added.

Pajovic said that Thessaloniki Summit that was held in June of 2003 confirmed and shaped historical perspective for all countries of Western Balkans in European Union and that this is a process with no alternative for democratic and economic strengthening of this region.

“We shouldn’t forget that it was precisely Greece who was our first country for contact with NATO and that ever since then Montenegro has had a very intensive cooperation in the area of defense, specifically in educating cadets and army members, in cooperation of navies, in common participation in international missions and operations”, he added.
