The Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) Antonio Guterres said that he was ready to support all initiatives towards resolving pending issues and reconciliation in the Western Balkans and underlined the positive role of Montenegro in strengthening regional cooperation.
Montenegrin President Filip Vujanovic received a letter from Guterres in which he states that the possibility to return once again to serve the UN is not only a privilege, but it initiates a deep sense of amenability and responsibility in him.
“Today’s global challenges are complex and only inspire for the amenable approach, in which the Secretary-General is working with its partners and makes its services available to help find solutions to the benefit of all,” said Guterres.
He said he looks forward to close cooperation with Montenegro during the term, thanking Montenegro for the commitment to the UN.
“Our cooperation will be essential in finding appropriate solutions to global challenges, such as climate change and the implementation of the Agenda for sustainable development by 2030. I would also like to emphasize the positive role of Montenegro in strengthening regional cooperation and express a willingness to support all initiatives towards resolving the backlog issues and reconciliation in the Western Balkans,” Guterres’ letter said.
