Hammond to Djukanovic: Montenegro’s accession to NATO is a positive stimulus for the whole region

During today’s NATO ministerial meeting, Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic met Foreign Minister of Great Britain Philip Hammond, who congratulated our country on the tenth anniversary of independence restoration and signing of NATO Accession Protocol.

“At the same time, he commended Montenegro’s commitment to European and Euro-Atlantic integrations, which are particularly important for the Western Balkans. He also encouraged the government of Montenegro to continue the reforms in the rule of law and economic development with the same intensity”, the government stated.

The British minister expressed his belief that the Montenegro’s accession to NATO would be a positive incentive for the entire Western Balkans. He also said that Britain will continue to support Montenegro on its path to membership in NATO and the EU.

Along with expressions of gratitude to the Government of the United Kingdom for its support to Montenegro and the region, PM Djukanovic pointed out that our country was strongly committed to the implementation and promotion of the European and Euro-Atlantic values system, which will contribute to the progress of the country and the region as a whole.
