The decision of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) to nominate Dusko Markovic as Prime Minister Designate, was correct, said Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic.

Asked to comment on the decision, Djukanovic said that it was not unexpected nor unusual.

“There is a lot of speculation and I would say that this is a logical and more or less expected decision,” Djukanovic said, adding that some are trying to “figure out” secret motives.

As he said, they are examining the reasons why he withdrew.

“I am not withdrawing at all. I am still the president of DPS, I finished the term as prime minister, not the first, but the seventh, and I decided not to run for the eighth. There is no retreat and no need for any mystery and irresponsible assumptions,” explained the prime minister.

He stated that he proposed for new prime minister a man who can do the job equaly well as he did.

“I am convinced that I will in the future confirm the validity of such a decision,” said Djukanovic.
