Officers of the Police directorate took down the international drug trafficking ring who smuggled skunk from Albania through Montenegrin territory to the region and the European Union. On that occasion, Branko Janketic (33) from Podgorica was arrested. About 100kg of skunk was found in his car.
On 8 October, Montenegrin police stopped and inspected a renault clio car with Podgorica licence plates driven by Janketic.
The inspectors had information that Janketic would obtain a large amount of skunk for further sale outside Montenegrin territory.
“During the vehicle search, five bags were found in the trunk with 99 large packs containing a substance of plant origin, dark green colour, which is suspected to be the marijuana drug, skunk type, about 100kg gross weight. Janketic was arrested”, the Police Directorate stated.
The skunk was seized and sent to the Forensic Centre for analysis.
The criminal investigation suggested that the drug was intended to be sold in a European country. Therefore Montenegrin police inspectors are communicating with the police of that country and taking further activities to identify other possibly related persons on the territory of that country.
