#Rio2016. #MontenegroWaterPoloNationalTeam #SemiFinals
Montenegro’s water polo team has been defeated again by Croatia in the semi-finals of the Olympic Games. Croatia beat Montenegro in Rio with 12:8 score (4:3, 3:2, 1:1, 4:2).
Our water polo players failed again to overcome the last barrier and qualify into the Olympics finals. For the third time in a row, Montenegro will play for third place. Hopefully, it will win an Olympic medal.
Montenegro did not start well. Croats took advantage of catastrophic mistakes in defence and scored three goals. It was 3:0 score four minutes before the end of the first quarter.
However, Montenegrin team got itself together and scored three goals and reached a tie. However Buslje scored another goal and it was 4:3 for Croats.
In the second quarter, Montenegrin team managed to catch up (4:4 and 5:5), but in the finish of the quarter Sukno and Macan scored for 7:5 for Croatia.
After that, Croats fully controlled the match. Montenegro team tried to return to the game, but did not succeed. Croatia deservedly qualified for the finals – 12:8.
Our team played below the expected level. Performance of goalkeeper Milos Scepanovic was particularly poor. On the other hand, Croatian goalkeeper Bijac was brilliant, especially at a time when our team had a chance to catch up.
The match for the third place will be played on Saturday at 6pm against the defeated team from the match between Serbia and Italy.
