The Democratic Front (DF), the Key coalition, the Democrats and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) urged the Electoral Commission not to declare the final results of the parliamentary elections held on 16 October. They will not accept the outcome of the elections until, as they put it, the case of the “criminal and terrorist attack on the institutions of the system”, dubbed “the coup”, which occurred on the election day, is not solved and fully legally processed.

“In this regard, in this open letter we ask you not to declare the final results of the elections, considering that no state authority has proved any fact related to the aforementioned serious offense of criminal association with a terrorist attempt until this moment. To declare the final results in the light of these allegations could deepen the already difficult political crisis in Montenegro”, the opposition said in the statement.

It also called on representatives of minority parties to support them and, as they said, “at the same time their own need for Montenegro to be a stable society in which the elections will not take place under the threat of constitutional order and state collapse.”

“At the same time, we expect the international community to adequately treat the new situation and to contribute to political stability the opposition insists on”, it was said in the statement.
