Ambassador of Great Britain Ian Whitting met Prime Minister Milo Đukanović today in Podgorica. He used the opportunity to give him a letter from British Minister of Foreign Affairs Boris Johnson on the subject of Montenegro’s NATO accession.

United Kingdom has completed the process of ratification of Accession Protocol of Montenegro to NATO.

Johnson stated that United Kingdom is looking forward to Montenegro becoming an ally in NATO in 2017.

“Johnson underlined that United Kingdom is very interested in strengthening further bilateral cooperation with Montenegro, especially in reforms of law, organized crime fight and strengthening institutional capacities”, it was stated in British Embassy in Podgorica.

The meeting was also an opportunity to discuss some other areas in which two countries already have efficient cooperation.

“I am pleased that United Kingdom ratified Montenegro’s Accession Protocol and I am very interested in helping practical cooperation in key areas cited by Minister Johnson”, Whitting said.
