San Giovanni fortress in Kotor and over 4km long walls have been visited by 78.000 tourists since April, which is by 30% more than in the same period last year.
There are two toll points on the way to the wall – at the Skaljari market and behind the church of Blessed Ozana in the old town. The entrance fee is €3.
The coordinator in charge of the city walls from the Directorate for Planning and Development of Kotor, Petar Otasevic, told Radio Skala that the old fortress was fully protected, therefore there has not been a single serious incident this year.
Tourists from cruise ships mostly visit Kotor walls, as well as visitors from bus tours, mostly Russians, Brits and Italians.
According to coordinators at the fortress, tourists are impressed by the panorama from the top of the fortress offering a unique view of the old town of Kotor and the bay.
