Cyprus and Malta support Montenegro’s path to the European Union and will help us particularly in the process of harmonization of domestic legislation with the European, said the foreign ministers of the countries, Ioannis Kasulides and George Vela, after a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Igor Luksic in Nicosia.
At the trilateral meeting it was also announced the signing of an agreement on cooperation in the fight against corruption and organized crime between Cyprus and Montenegro.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, Ioannis Kasulider, said that his country supports the European path of Montenegro.
“We encourage your continued reform processes. The harmonization of domestic with European legislation is a complicated process, and you’re doing it well. Our experiences and all technical assistance are available. In all areas, the rule of law, migration and other,” he said.
His colleague from Malta, Georg Vela, believes that Montenegro has made rapid and major progress in the negotiations with the EU.
“You have the full support of Malta on that path. We will continue to help you, because you have made concrete – excellent results. I hope that you will become part of the Unionin the shortest possible time ,” said George.
Our Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Igor Luksic said that Montenegro greatly appreciates the concrete assistance to Cyprus and Malta.
