Marking of April 4, the day when NATO was established, will become a tradition, like the marking of the Day of the Army of Montenegro.

It is a date that will become part of the history of our future, as it testifies to the fact that our country has thought about itself for the first time, about its future and security of its citizens, said Minister of Defense Predrag Boskovic.

A ceremony at the Ministry of Defense marked the date when in 1949 the foreign ministers of the United States and 11 Western European countries in Washington signed the North Atlantic Treaty on the establishment of NATO.

Boskovic said that the main foreign policy objectives that our country has set up after the restoration of statehood, the Euro-Atlantic integration and NATO membership, are persued in the best possible way.

“What is important, we provided to Montenegro what has often lacked for centuries, namely peace, stability and security,” said Montenegrin Minister of Defense.
