The law does not allow interior minister not to sign the electoral roll, said deputy president of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Dusko Markovic.
“I assert that this is the best electoral roll not only in the region but also beyond”, Markovic told Dan newspaper.
Asked about the interior minister Goran Danilovic’s statement that it was not certain that he would sign the electoral register, Markovic said that such a thing was not possible.
“The law does not allow the one who manages the electoral roll not to sign it”, Markovic said, adding that for almost two years the register has been in the hands of those who are now in the opposition and who control the government’s work through the ministerial posts.
According to him, nobody has the right to call into question citizens’ legal obligation and the constitutional right to vote and elect those who will lead the country in the next four years.
“I think that the opposition representatives are not dilettantes and irresponsible politicians willing to withdraw from the election race after they became heavily involved in the electoral process. Playing such games and ignoring legal system to create an alibi for a certain defeat are unacceptable”, Markovic said.
