Changes are necessary, and Montenegro is ready for a new level of democracy and freedom, it was said at the meeting of vice President of the Government Duško Marković and Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs Brian Hoyt Yee.
Hoyt Yee said that the signed Accession Protocol for membership in NATO internationally, and new Government nationally, show a great accomplishment from Montenegro.
„We used to wonder whether Montenegro would succeed as an independent state, and today we see that your country went two steps further. It is at NATO’s doors, and I am sure it will join EU. Montenegro’s success is important for the whole region”, he said.
According to Marković, Montenegro has shown a strength of dialogue and reason, which is the big capital we can give to the future generation of politicians.
„We did not allow political differences and different approach to serve as an ignition for conflict, but we used this reality to help us reach important and sustainable decisions. Political system and rule of law were a big challenge, and they no longer represent a limitation for the democratic accession of our country. The Government will do everything to make opposition in its ranks get an equal treatment, so that we can accomplish our goals along with the main one, electoral trust”, he said.
