Parliament adopted new lawa on courts and the prosecution. There are no conditions to declare flu epidemic, the health authorities claim. Montenegro already set to join NATO

Parliament adopted a set of judicial laws, including the Law on the Special Prosecutor’s Office, which provides for the establishment of a special investigation team to combat organized crime, modeled on the Croatian USKOK.

National Institute of Public Health said there are no conditions to declare flu epidemic in Montenegro. The analysis of the current epidemiological situation has not registered increased rate of mortality from influenza in the population, the institute said.

Hungary, as the Montenegro’s contact point country for NATO, believes that Montenegro was ready to become a member of the Alliance, Hungarian Ambassador to Podgorica Krisztian Posa said. “The Allies are pleased with how things are going when it comes to meeting two of the four conditions for membership – defense system and security services reforms, but the country still needs to work on public support and strengthen the rule of law,” he said.
