Montenegro Press Review – June 19, 2015

The miners refuse to meet minister in Podgorica. A well organised hunter association can occupy Montenegro, the opposition leader claims. OSCE praises Montenegro’s commitment to security in Europe.

The workers of the Niksic-based Bauxite Mines have not accepted the invitation of Economy Minister Vladimir Kavaric to meet in Podgorica and announced they will continue blocking the road in the village of Rubeza, leading to the mine pits at the locality of Niksicka Zupa. They began the blockade on Thursday, after the minister reffuset to come to Nisic.

Citizens of Montenegro should see accession to the Western military alliance that had bombed the country only as a last resort, the leader of the New Serbian Democracy, NOVA, Andrija Mandic, said. He claimed that Montenegro had no Navy forces, its military aircrafts were destroyed, navy were sold. “A well organised European hunter association can occupy Montenegro,” he said.

Defence Minister Milica Pejanović-Djurisic ad the OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier disscused in Vieanna the current programme of the Montenegrin presidency of the OSCE Forum for Security Cooperation and the activities carried out within this framework. Stressing that Montenegro has assumed the Forum’s chairmanship in challenging times, which includes a strong focus on activities related to the crisis in Ukraine, Zannier said the OSCE member states unanimous support for Montenegro’s priorities, stating that its programme is comprehensive and well-balanced dealing with topics crucial for European securit.
