US Navy ship visits Montenegro. Results expected by EU will be achieved, new prosecutor claims. Cooperation between government and civil society significant for successful negotiations.
The US Navy ship USS Fort McHenry (LSD-43), has arrived to the port of Bar in a four-day visit, as part of US-Montenegrin bilateral cooperation in the security field. This visit to the port of Bar represents the continuation of the US Sixth Fleet efforts to build interoperability of the USA and Montenegro as a part of the Global Maritime Partnerships aimed at improving safety and security at the sea,” the US Embassy communicated.
A new approach in investigations will lead to measurable results that the EU expects from Montenegro, the newly appointed Chief Special Prosecutor, Milivoje Katnic, said. He promised efficiency in detecting crimes timely, prosecuting them and creating situations for the courts to be able to deliver judgements.
The EU-Montenegro Civil Society Joint Consultative Committee, held in Brussels on Wednesday, stressed the importance of cooperation between the Government and civil society in making progress towards EU membership. Montenegro’s Chief Negotiator Aleksandar Andrija Pejović said the civil society involvement is of immense value for Montenegro’s negotiation process.
