Montenegro gets 687.5 million euro loan from Chinese bank to build highway; cabinet calls on ministries to appoint representatives for Gay Pride; Montenegro celebrates Parliament Day.
Montenegro’s Finance Minister Radoje Zugic and Chinese Ambassador Zhi Zhaolin signed on Thursday in Podgorica the loan agreement between Montenegro and the Exim Bank on financing the construction of the Bar-Boljare highway, that is its priority section Smokovac-Uvac-Matesevo. The construction of the highway’s priority part will cost around 809.6 million euro.
Montenegro’s Cabinet has made a recommendation to all ministries to appoint their representatives who will attend this Sunday’s pride parade, thus demonstrating the government’s strong support for everyone’s right to freely express their attitude. Montenegro’s third LGBT pride parade is scheduled for Sunday in Montenegro’s capital Podgorica. The march, which will be organised by the LGBTIQ association Queer Montenegro, is to be guarded by around 1,800 police officers, the Cabinet said.
The Day of Parliamentarism will be marked on Friday, on the same day the first National Assembly in Montenegro had been constituted in 1906 in te royal capital Cetinje. The Constitution from 1905 provides that the National Assembly consists of delegates elected freely by the people and those appointed by position. Under the the Constitution of the Principality of Montenegro and the Act on the Election of People’s Deputies has been, the first elections were held on September 27, 1906.
