Montenegro women’s national handball team has been defeated by Romania with the 25:21 (11: 9) score in the third match at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and stayed at the bottom of B Group with no points scored.

The national team dubbed “golden lionesses” has made no progress in the game even in the third match in Rio de Janeiro. Shortcomings shown in the matches against Spain and Angola have been repeated. Currently, the Montenegrin team can reach the quarter-finals only in theory.

Only in the first part of the game the score was tied. However the Romani team scored two goals in the finish of the first half and it was ended 11:9.

Montenegrin team did not manage to reach a draw during the second half. There were a lot of technical errors, missed shots and goals easily scored by Romanians contributed to the third defeat of the Montenegro women’s national handball team in a row at the Olympics.

The golden lioness only have a chance to beat strong teams such as Norway and Brazil in order to reach quarter-finals provided favourable outcome of the other matches in the group.

Katarina Bulatovic was the best player of Montenegrin team. She scored nine goals, whereas Majda Mehmedovic scored four goals.

Montenegrin team will play against Norway on Friday at 9:40pm.
