NATO Secretary -General, Jens Stoltenberg said that the Alliance is pleased with formalization of Montenegro’s membership in NATO, estimating that integration in this military and political alliance is also important for the stability of this part of the Balkans.

At today’s press briefing in Brussels, he said NATO membership is a big step forward for Montenegro and stability in the Western Balkans.

“We look forward to formally welcoming Montenegro as the 29th member of NATO in early June. Prime Minister Dusko Markovic will join us tomorrow, and this is a step forward for Montenegro and for the stability of the Western Balkans,” Stoltenberg said.

Prime Minister Markovic traveled to Brussels at a meeting of presidents of the states or governments of NATO states members, which will be held on Wednesday in the new headquarters of NATO.

Prime Minister will be accompanied by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defense, Srdjan Darmanovic and Predrag Boskovic.

The summit in Brussels will be the first meeting attended by new US and French presidents, Donald Trump and Emmanuel Macron.
