The new status within the NATO alliance is an extra motive to continue with the same pace of reforms in the field of rule of law and strengthening public support, according to the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milo Djukanovic.

He participates today in a plenary session of the spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly of NATO taking place in Tirana. Djukanovic believes that, as he said, Allies would recognize the commitment and responsibility and ratify the protocol without delay.

The President of the Albanian Parliament Ilir Meta says for Radio television Montenegro after meeting with Djukanovic, that Albania would be the first NATO member to ratify the Protocol on the Accession of Montenegro.

President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Michael Turner congratulated Montenegro on signing the protocol, saying that he will continue to strongly support Montenegro’s membership in NATO, because, as he said, Montenegro has shown that it shares the vision of a free Europe.

Turner also said that soon, perhaps even to the end of the year, Montenegro will become a full fledged NATO member.
