NATO’s door to remain open

Defense Minister Predrag Boskovic said that Montenegro, as a member of NATO, will continue to promote the democratic values of the alliance, as well as support all neighboring countries that are oriented towards membership in the Euro-Atlantic family.

On the sidelines of the meeting of the US-Adriatic Charter Defense Ministers (A-5), that is being held today in Ohrid, Boskovic spoke with the captain of the army ship Gorazd Bartol, the head of the NATO liaison office in Skopje.

Boskovic expressed his satisfaction with the support provided by the NATO Office to Macedonian institutions in the process of Euro-Atlantic integration.

“Boskovic and Bartol exchanged views on the situation in the region and agreed that integration and continuous regional cooperation are crucial for preserving stability in the Western Balkans.Boskovic stressed that Montenegro will confirm that the doors of the Alliance will remain open to all countries which reform results show that they deserve a place in NATO, and reiterated that on this road Macedonia can count on the full support of the Government of Montenegro,”the Ministry of Defense announced.

Minister Boskovic also met with the Minister of the Kosovo Security Forces, Rustem Berisha, with whom he discussed the current cooperation between Montenegro and Kosovo in the field of security, as well as on the current security challenges facing the region of the Western Balkans.
