New York’s jazz festival coming to Montenegro!

Montenegrin publishing house Rabbit Records, in cooperation with Made in New York Competition and Festival INC from New York is organizing a premier Made in New York Jazz Festival, Montenegro 2016. Only a couple of weeks after the festival in New York’s Tribeca Performing Arts center, most important names of American jazz music are coming to Montenegro! The audience will have a chance to enjoy the repertoire made of standard jazz, as well as regular instrumental and vocal improvisations.


Festival will be held on 3rd of June at the amphitheatre at the entrance to Sveti Stefan, and on 5th of June in atrium of “The Capital Plaza” in Podgorica, both with the beginning at 9 pm. During two days of the festival some of the biggest names of the world jazz scene will perform: Randy Brecker – trumpet, Yaacov Mayman – tenor saxophone, Essiet Okon Essiet – double bass, Edsel Gomez – piano, solo vocals: George Johnson Junior and Anita Vitale, then Leonid Vintskevich – piano and Nick Vintskevich – soprano/alto saxophone, as well as Bobby Sanabria – drums and percussions.


At the scene, as guests, local musicians will join them: Vladimir Maras – piano, Milorad Sule Jovovic – guitar and Micko Wes Perunicic – guitar, as well as famous jazz performers from the region: Ljubisa Paunic – saxophone/flute, Vladimir Krnetic – trumpet/flugelhorn, Ivan Aleksijevic – piano (Big band RTS) and many others.


On Sunday the fifht of June in Hard Rock Cafe a “Jzz Session with Jazz Masters” will be organized for students of music schools, Musical academy and other interested people, where the participants will give short lectures and answer the audience questions. It is particularly important that students of jazz department of music high school “Vasa Pavic” whose professor is Sule Jovovic will open the concert in Podgorica by one composition.
