Not getting NATO invitation would be unacceptable

Foreign Minister of Hungary Peter Szijjarto said for ‘’Pobjeda’’ that it would be unacceptable if Montenegro does not receive an invitation for NATO membership in Brussels next week.

“Be sure that we will not leave the room until you get an invitation because we are convinced that you have done your homework. There is no reason not to get the call. I don’t know what could be the explanation of those who would be against it but I hope there won’t be such”, said Szijjarto in Suzhou on the sidelines of a summit of China and 16 countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

He added that Hungary and Montenegro are in the neighborhood in the Western Balkans, and that we all remember very well the wars in these areas.

“The best way to stabilize this region are European and Euro-Atlantic integration. You becoming a member as soon as possible is in the common interest,” said Hungarian Foreign Minister with the assessment that Montenegro should have already been part of the Alliance.

Szijjarto stressed that Hungary had always strongly supported the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Montenegro.
